Power without Powder
The sheer energy and three full-power shots delivered by the .50 caliber Umarex Hammer is achieved by its proprietary, patent-pending, Lightspeed valve. The innovative engineering used to design this internal air-transfer mechanism coupled with a .50 caliber, 550 grain lead slug is responsible for the generation of its 705 foot pounds of energy at the muzzle. Almost as impressive, it only takes two pounds of effort to operate its straight-pull bolt. This short, effortless, two-inch action is all it takes to use the rifle and advance the magazine.
Three Full Power Shots
On top of being the most powerful production air rifle in the world, the Hammer is the only airgun to offer three full-power shots, plus another powerful finishing shot. The combination of its 3000 psi regulator, Lightspeed valve, and dual chamber magazine equates to the most powerful and big game lethal air-powered hunting rifle you can own.
Filling the Hammer With Air
The Umarex Hammer requires a minimum of 3,000 pounds per square inch of normal atmospheric air to operate—4,500 psi to achieve its three full-power shots. A shop or construction tool compressor won’t do the job. Electric high pressure air compressors that are capable of filling 4,500 psi are available and the most convenient. Hand pumps rated at 4,500 psi can be used. In the field, 90 cubic inch SCBA or carbon fiber “buddy” tanks are quite convenient. These tanks also require 4,500 psi when being used with the Hammer and can be filled at air filling stations and willing scuba or dive shops.
